STOP THE SALE OF SINGLE-USE PLASTIC BOTTLES IN [SCHOOL]

As students, we know that single-use plastic water bottles are contributing to the world’s pollution problem and ruining our planet. Why does our school still sell plastic beverages?

Consuming one water bottle has a significant impact on our environment and our health.

• 91% of the plastic bottles sold in school end up in landfills. Once there, they can take up to 1,000 years to decompose. 

• The rest are dumped into the ocean adding to the 150 metric tons of plastic that have already accumulated in oceans worldwide. Plastic in our oceans and water supply are killing wildlife and contaminating human water supplies.

• Plastic bottles are dangerous to our health. Production releases toxic emissions, and when exposed to heat, chemicals can leak into the water we drink.

The selling of single-use plastic water bottles at our school is contributing to the plastic pollution affecting our environment. 

Sign this petition to persuade our school officials to take action on this serious environmental issue:

• Stop purchasing and selling plastic beverage bottles on school premises.

• Encourage students to bring reusable water bottles.

• Consider other recyclable beverage options: glass, aluminum, tetra packs.

• Offer more hydration stations: filtered water stations, updated water fountains, water dispensers in the cafeteria.
